Can I Used Chicken Breast Instead?

Yes! This recipe works with both chicken thigh and chicken breast. I prefer using boneless chicken thigh, the meat are fattier and juicier which means, they're going to have a more intense rich flavor than chicken breast which is the meat is leaner and firmer.

When it comes to spicy honey garlic chicken, there's just something about the combination of sweet and spicy that makes it so irresistible.This spicy honey garlic chicken is easy enough to cook in less than 30 minutes, the chicken is extra crispy coated in a spicy , sweet savoury garlic sauce.

Ingredients
  • 1 pound chicken thigh (boneless , skinless)
  • 2 tablespoons rice flour
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup soda water
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • oil for frying
  • For the Glazed
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon korean chili paste
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • sesame seeds (garnished)
Instructions
  1. In a large bowl, season chicken with salt, black pepper and garlic powder, then add cornstarch, rice flour, egg and soda water. mix to combine and set aside for 10 minutes before frying.

  2. Heat enough oil for frying in a large deep skillet or deep fryer.

  3. Add the chicken pieces 2-3 minutes on each side or until the chicken turn lightly brown. Do not overcrowd the pan do this in batches if necessary.

  4. Remove the chicken and let it rest for 2 minutes, turn the heat into high and return the chicken back to the pan, double fry for 1-2 minutes for extra crispiness. Remove and drain in a paper towel.

  5. In a pan, heat about 1 tablespoon of oil. add garlic, chili paste, soy sauce and honey. Stir to combine.

  6. Keep stirring until the sauce start to thicken.

  7. Return the chicken back to the pan. Toss and coat the chicken with the sauce. Garnish with sesame seeds.

  8. Serve and Enjoy!
