This Garlic Shrimp Pasta is a quick and easy pasta dish loaded with flavors, perfect for a weeknight dinner as it’s ready in less than 30 minutes. This homemade garlic shrimp pasta certainly makes me feel like a fancy restaurant chef, the simple preparation of this recipe is pretty impressive that even a beginner cooks can serve with confidence and success.

The juicy pan – sauteed shrimp in a light garlic infused butter sauce and tossed with perfectly cooked pasta , it’s so savory-tasting you don’t want to miss a single drop of of the sauce!

Garlic Shrimp Pasta is a perfect pasta dish when you want to have a quick spaghetti meal. Cooking the noodles might be the lengthiest step in this process. It takes about 11 to 12 minutes to have al dente spaghetti, while a good 8 to 10 minutes is all you need to cook the shrimp with the rest of the ingredients. If you will do the math, garlic shrimp pasta can be prepared in less than 30 minutes!

Ingredients for Garlic Shrimp Pasta

  • Shrimp – Choose raw jumbo or extra-large fresh or frozen shrimp. Using fresh shrimp is a good idea too for better flavor, just make sure to remove the head, shell, and devein the shrimp before cooking.
  • Garlic – Use fresh garlic rather than pre-minced garlic out of a jar, if you can. Because this dish is so simple, you want the ingredients to shine.
  • Olive oil and Butter – Add flavor to the dish.
  • Seasoning -( garlic powder, paprika, salt & pepper) It gives extra flavor to the shrimp.
  • Onion – sautéing released deep flavor.
  • Chili flakes – Adds extra kick to keep everyone awake. I add a healthy pinch; feel free to add more or less to taste.
  • Pasta – Any long strand pasta of your choice, like linguine, spaghetti, angel hair, bucatini or fettuccine pasta.
  • Pasta water – This starch-rich liquid is the magic ingredient in many pasta dishes, it helps to bind and thicken the sauce.
  • Parmesan Cheese – It gives you that umami/savory flavor that you want in your pasta and it gives lots of flavor to the dish.
  • Parsley – it gives color and flavor to the pasta.

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, drizzle shrimp with olive oil and seasoned with salt, black pepper, garlic powder and paprika. Toss to combine and set aside.

  2. In a medium-sized pan, boil water and salt it. Add your pasta, and cook according to the package instructions until al dente.

  3. Meanwhile, when the pasta is almost done. Melt the butter in a pan and then add the olive oil.

  4. When it starts to shimmer, add the shrimp in one layer. Cook 2 minutes, then turn them over and continue cooking until they turn pink and opaque, about 1 more minute.

  5. When it's done remove shrimp from the pan and set aside.

  6. Using the same pan, melt the butter. Saute onion, garlic and chili flakes.

  7. Gradually add-in the cooked spaghetti noodles. Toss until all the ingredients are incorporated.

  8. Add pasta water and seasoned with salt and pepper. Returned the shrimp back to the pan, add chopped parsley and parmesan cheese. Toss again until all are well distributed.

  9. Serve. Share and enjoy!

Note

  • Cook the pasta al-dente. That’s because you’ll be tossing it with the sauce and shrimp for a couple minutes after it’s done cooking and you want to make sure it doesn’t get too soggy.
  • Thaw and dry frozen shrimp before cooking. If you prefer to buy frozen shrimp than the fresh one, thaw it out and make sure to dab it dry so the excess moisture doesn’t affect searing the shrimp properly.
  • Be careful not to overcook the shrimp. They only require a few minutes of cooking and if you over cook them they will get chewy. Cook until they are opaque pink in color.
