Key Ingredients in Garlic Parmesan Chicken Skewers

  • Chicken - I prefer to use boneless skinless chicken thighs as they are juicier than chicken breast but if you prefer using chicken breast works well too for this recipe. Make sure to cut the chicken into 1-inch pieces so that all of the chicken cooks up in about the same amount of time.
  • Seasonings - You’ll need seasoning salt or poultry season for the chicken. I season with paprika, garlic pepper powder, onion flakes, salt and pepper.
  • Olive Oil - Helps the seasoning penetrate deeper to the chicken.
  • Butter - Melt unsalted butter in a pan so that you can easily mix in the garlic and other ingredients.
  • Garlic – Fresh minced garlic goes into the Parmesan butter sauce that we’ll baste the chicken with.
  • Fresh Parsley – the fresh parsley adds the perfect herbiness to balance the savory butter sauce.
  • Parmesan Cheese - Grated parmesan adds umami to the chicken and makes them salty and delicious.
  • Lemon Juice - Adds just a hint of tanginess to the butter sauce.
  • Chili Flakes - Adds extra kick to the butter sauce.
  • Skewers - If you’re using wooden skewers, make sure to soak the skewers in a bowl of water so that they don’t burn on the grill.

Description

These Garlic Parmesan Chicken Skewers has a unique and packed with flavor

Ingredients
  • 6 chicken thigh (1 thigh cut into 4 pcs.)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic pepper powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion flakes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • For the Sauce
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • chopped parsley
Instructions
  1. In a mixing bowl with chicken pieces, season chicken with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic pepper powder, onion flakes and drizzle with olive oil. Mix to combine. Cover and marinate at least an hour to over night.

  2. After marinating, thread the chicken pieces onto skewers, make sure they are tightly packed with no space in between to insure maximum juiciness. If using wooden skewers, make sure they have soaked in water for 30 minutes to prevent them from burning.

  3. Add the skewers to the air fryer, make sure to have enough space. Set air fryer to 180C for 15 minutes. Check the air fryer after 10 minutes or until the chicken turns light brown and rotate the skewers and cook the other side for a few minutes.

  4. In a pan, melt butter. Add chopped garlic, chili flakes, black pepper, grated parmesan cheese and chopped parsley. Mix and saute until completely mix, squeeze out half lemon and mix. Reserve sauce for basting

  5. Remove the chicken from the air fryer and brush with garlic butter sauce.

  6. Serve and enjoy!
