Bake sushi is one of the popular food trend and one of the popular potluck dish inspired by sushi It’s easy to make and delivers the delicious Japanese flavors you love with no special sushi chef skills required. I make my own version that surely you will love it!

What is SUSHI BAKE or BAKE SUSHI?

Bake sushi or sushi bake is a deconstructed version of the original japanese rolled sushi Instead of rolling the rice around various fillings and wrapping with a sheet of dried seaweed, the different components are layered in a baking dish and finished off in the oven.

How to serve BAKE SUSHI

Bake Sushi are eaten kind of like a little taco with roasted seaweed snack being the tortilla and the sushi bake being the filling. Just scoop a bit of sushi bake onto a piece of roasted seaweed snack and pop it in your mouth for the perfect bite.

How to Prepare BAKE SUSHI

First, you have to gather all the ingredients needed:

  • Sushi Rice
  • Sushi Vinegar
  • Nori sheets ( seaweed)
  • Salmon
  • Crab sticks 
  • Cream cheese
  • Kewpie Mayo
  • Sriracha hot sauce
  • Furikake Seasoning

Ingredients

Cooking Mode Disabled

For the sushi rice

For the salmon

Sushi dressing

Instructions

For the rice

  1. Mix rice vinegar and sugar in a bowl, mix it well until sugar dissolve.

  2. Pour the mixture to the freshly cooked rice and toss until evenly distributed.

For the filling

  1. In a bowl, combine chopped kani, shredded salmon and add in kewpie mayo, cream cheese sour cream, sriracha. Mix well until combine.

Assemble

  1. Place enough rice to the rectangular baking dish, spread evenly and lightly press down, sprinkle with furikake seasoning enough to cover the rice.
  2. Add the creamy topping, spread evenly and sprinkle with thin layer of furikake seasoning. Drizzle with mayo and sriracha on top.
  3. Bake at 180°C/350°F for 15 to 20 minutes. Enjoy by scooping a portion then wrapping it in nori.
