This Seafood Restaurant Style Marina Pasta is one of the best seafood pasta recipes made with fresh seafood using shrimps, mussels and clams it gives this dish looks so fancy and packed with flavor. Quick to make,if you can manage boiling the pasta while you make the (very easy) sauce , you’re pretty much all done in less than 30 minutes.
There are lots of variations of Seafood Marinara Pasta, you could add any type of seafood you like to make it really flavorful. As seafood cooks at different rates, I like to cook it separately and it’s very quick. A lot of cooks Throw everything in at once, this can end up giving you tough rubbery and overcooked seafood.
Simply prepare all your ingredients ahead of time and you’ll have an easy time making this restaurant-quality dish at home. I hope you love this recipe as much as we do!
How to make Homemade Seafood Marinara Pasta
My seafood marinara recipe is really flexible. Using seafood that you enjoy eating is the key to making delicious restaurant-style dishes in your own kitchen. Use what you have on hand, you can make up your own if you prefer, using whatever seafood you want.
- Use a high- quality Pasta – Pasta shape for this type of dish is a long strand, there’s nothing worse than glue-y or overly starchy pasta when you’re trying to pull off a fresh and delicious restaurant-quality pasta dish. This recipe is perfect with linguine but you can always choose your favorite such as Spaghetti, Bucatini, Perciatelli and Thin cut Fettuccine.
- Use Fresh Ingredients – My recipe is calling for fresh seafood but using a high-quality frozen seafood mix from the international section at your local grocery store that includes pre-cooked mussels and calamari, and a bag of frozen uncooked shrimp or prawns. These choices keep this recipe both delicious and economical, as fresh seafood can be expensive (especially if you don’t live near the sea!)
- Pasta water and Seafood broth – The key to the sauce is the water you boil the pasta and the seafood broth where you boil the fresh clams and mussels. Reserve about 1 1/2 cup of pasta water or the seafood broth to help make the sauce of this seafood marinara pasta silky smooth.
- Do not over-cooked – Cook your seafood for only the time recommended in the recipe and cooked your pasta al dente!

Boil a large pot of water. Once boiling, add salt. Add mussels and clams, cook shells until they open, about 5 minutes. Reserve broth

Bring another pot of salted water to boil. Cook pasta according to packet directions, but reduce the cooking time by 1 minute (because the pasta will finish cooking in the sauce)

While the pasta cooks, heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil. Add garlic and onion. Cook for 2 minutes until onion is translucent.
-
Add tomatoes, cook until soft then add tomato paste. Stir until combined, cover and cook for another minute. Add in the seafood broth or pasta water, stir to combined.

Add mussels and clams to the pan, cover and steam shells with the sauce for about a minute then add shrimps and mix gently. Cover and cook shrimps until color turns pink.
-
Seasoned with salt, black pepper and Italian seasoning, add chili flakes if you want extra kick but totally optional.
